Cristiano Ronaldo Return to Manchester United Is ‘Perfect Business,’ Says Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho’s take on Cristiano Ronaldo’s decision to leave Juventus and rejoin Manchester United.

AS Roma head coach Jose Mourinho believes that Cristiano Ronaldo’s sensational return to former club Manchester United is logical for both the player and Juventus. He talked on Saturday 28th on the eve of AS Roma’s trip to Estadio Arechi to face the newly promoted Salernitana.

The ‘Special One’ (he gave himself the label just after arriving at Chelsea in 2004) said it was the ‘Perfect Business’ for all parties involved. He reckons that if Cristiano Ronaldo, both Juventus and Manchester United, are happy, there is no need for anyone to comment about Ronaldo because he always plays, scores, wins, and makes history for more than 20 years.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Transfer Fee to Old Trafford

The 36-year-old Portuguese professional football player has officially completed his move to Old Trafford. Manchester United confirmed on Friday 27th that they had reached an agreement with Juventus to sign the Portugal captain for the second time since 2009. This might be the best signing Manchester United has made since they signed the star back in 2003 from Sporting CP.

The news has broken the internet after his agent George Mendes made a dream move for him to Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho, who had worked with Cristiano Ronaldo at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, approved that the transfer cost Manchester United around €15million (£12.87m) and €8million (£6.86m) in add-ons.

Does Cristiano Ronaldo’s Move from Juventus Open up the Serie a Title Race?

As to whether the departure of Juventus’ best player opens up the Serie A title race, the Portuguese professional football manager joked that this was a question to ask the defending champions Internazionale Milano’s coach Simone Inzaghi.

Under a new Boss Jose Mourinho, AS Roma has won their first three official matches. They knocked Trabzonspor out of the UEFA Europa Conference League 5-2 on aggregate. They won the match against Fiorentina 3-1 in their Serie A debut. Salernitana were defeated 0-4 again at their home ground by AS Roma in their second Serie A game.

Cristiano Ronaldo Move Gives Manchester United Hope of Great This Season

Ronaldo has undergone a medical test while in Lisbon over the weekend. He is set to sign a two-year deal at Old Trafford after Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain F.C. pulled out of the rivalry to sign him. Manchester City was his first choice, but he had his dream move back to Old Trafford. However, City had no plans of signing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, although they were offered a chance to in the last few days.

Everyone remembers Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous debut at Old Trafford back on 16th August 2003. He disclosed himself as a Red Devil with a sensational win of 4-0 against Bolton. Under Sir Alex Ferguson, Cristiano Ronaldo won:

  • Three English Premier League titles in 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10.
  • Two Super League cups 2006-07, 2009-10.
  • English F.A. Cup in 2004-05.
  • A Champions League Title in 2008-09.
  • FIFA World Cup 2008-09.

Between 2003 to 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo managed to score 118 goals for Manchester United in 292 appearances. In the 2007-08 season, he was the Premier League golden boot winner.

After the 2008-09 season, Ronaldo left Old Trafford for Santiago Bernabéu Stadium for 12 years. Between 2009-2018, CR7 scored 451 goals in 438 games at Real Madrid. During his nine-year stay at Real Madrid, the centre-forward lifted:

After his last season (2017-18) at Real Madrid, Juventus signed him in 2018 on a four-year contract for a fee of £105m. In his three seasons at Juventus, Ronaldo scored 101 goals in 131 appearances. No other player in the history of Juventus managed to reach that milestone apart from the great Omari Sivori, who scored 124 goals.

However, he managed to finish the contract by the 2020-21 season. Juventus wanted to offload his revenue after-tax that amounts to £500,000-per-week that was set to expire as of 2022.

While at Allianz Stadium, Cristiano Ronaldo won major domestic cups, including:

  • Two Serie A titles 2018-19, 2019-20.
  • Two Italian Super Cups 2018-19, 2020-21.
  • Coppa Italia Cup winner 2020-21.
