Cristiano Ronaldo Arrives Into The UK Days After Being Signed By Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo was allowed to leave the Portugal squad to complete his isolation period in the UK ahead of the next Manchester United game against Newcastle United next Saturday. This means that he will be available to train and play for Manchester United as of next week.

He was suspended following his celebration of a late 2-1 World Cup Qualifier win over the Republic of Ireland. Ronaldo has joined Manchester United from Juventus on a two-year contract, extending for another year. Cristiano Ronaldo made a sensational return to Old Trafford after agreeing on a fee with Juventus for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Darren Fletcher (his former team-mate and Old Trafford’s technical director) greeted and welcomed him on his arrival at a private terminal at Manchester Airport on Thursday.

Cristiano Ronaldo Flight Back Today To old Trafford Earlier Than Anticipated

The 36-year-old flew back to join Manchester United earlier than anticipated. According to allegations from Portugal, Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) says that even though the forward’s presentation at his new club was supposed to happen after his international duties, he could do it now. 

The centre-forward was booked in the last minute of Portugal’s match against Ireland on 1st Wednesday, September. He provoked a yellow card following his goal celebration by taking his shirt off. The Portuguese national team expected Cristiano Ronaldo to be present on the 6th of September after the against Azerbaijan. However, he was suspended from the national team’s next game, free to fly to Old Trafford. 

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United Return Has Energised Whole Club

RTP also reports that the Portuguese star has a strong desire to start training at Old Trafford as soon as possible. Even though he traveled on Thursday the 2nd of September, it is not yet confirmed when he will start working with the Red Devils squad. 

Ronaldo spoke to the Brazilian media after Portugal’s match against Ireland. He had already talked about his preparations for his new debut in the English Premier League against Newcastle United on Saturday, the 11th of September. 

Cristiano Ronaldo to Wear the Iconic Number 7 Jersey at Old Trafford 

Manchester United can confirm that Cristiano Ronaldo will wear his iconic no.7 shirt after returning to Old Trafford. Edinson Cavani had initially handed the Number 7 jersey at the start of the campaign. He had worn it for the whole of last season and appeared in Sunday’s victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers in it. 

However, Edison is happy and willing to hand the jersey to the Portuguese superstar, whom he always admires and respects at all times. Cristiano Ronaldo also appreciated the Uruguayian’s kindness because he wasn’t sure if he could wear the jersey again.

The Portuguese centre-forward superstar famously wore the legendary shirt number during his first spell with the club, and it is confirmed that Cristiano will have it on his back once again. There were large queues of fans rushing at Old Trafford to order the new Cristiano Ronaldo number 7 jerseys from the United Direct.

Following Ronaldo’s first six seasons at the club (between 2003 and 2009), he scored 118 goals in 292 appearances. Under Sir Alex Ferguson, they won nine trophies, including three Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also included Ronaldo in Manchester United’s 25-man Champions League squad. The first Champions League match is against Young Boys on Tuesday, the 14th of September.
